The Livelihoods Innovation through Food Entrepreneurship (LIFE) Project supports and encourages entrepreneurship, job creation and cross-cultural engagement in the food sector. Through our entrepreneur incubation program, Members of the LIFE Food Enterprise Center (FEC) build food businesses and create sustainable livelihoods in Turkey. The program supports refugees and host communities.
Entrepreneurs receive more than 60 hours of instruction tailored to developing businesses in the food industry in Turkey. Members of each cohort advance through the program together, sharing knowledge and experiences across cultures and skill sets.
The LIFE Project Food Enterprise Centers (FECs) are equipped with commercial-grade kitchen space for testing and production, as well as space for co-working and events. Within the FECs, members are connected with resources, services, and each other as they build and grow their businesses, skills and network.
The LIFE Project emphasizes social cohesion and gastrodiplomacy, or the people-to-people exchange of culture through food. Through these gastrodiplomacy events, LIFE members connect with their communities across nationalities to share their food and their stories.
